COVID-19 testing

We offer COVID-19 testing for those with or without symptoms. To get tested before you travel or return to work or school, book a testing visit. Walk-in clinic testing is only for those with symptoms. The current time for results is less than 24 hours, but can take up to 72 hours.

We offer TMA (transcription-mediated amplification) testing. This is a nasal swab test. It meets NAT/NAAT test rules. It's very sensitive and can find small amounts of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Our test is not valid for travel to Hawaii. But it is valid for travel to Canada. Please check with the agency asking for the test to see if our test is accepted.

FAQ about COVID-19 testing

You can still get tested. We offer testing for anyone, with or without COVID-19 symptoms. You'll find many testing sites across Puget Sound.

You will not be charged for COVID-19 testing. There are no copays and deductibles for this service. But if you are insured, some charges will be billed to your insurance.

If you got this service at the same time as other services, we will bill your insurance. It may affect your deductible and copay.

FAQ about serology (antibody) testing

The Everett Clinic offers serology testing for SARS-CoV-2. This test is new and can only be done under emergency use authorization. This test is specific for COVID-19. But there are many unanswered questions about what it can tell us.

The test may not be able to answer questions about COVID-19 immunity. The World Health Organization states that "there is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection."

Talk to your doctor before asking for serology testing. You need to understand the pros and cons of the test.

Serology testing can’t show that you have COVID-19. It can only show that you’ve been exposed to the virus. To find out if you have or recently had COVID-19, you may want another test. We suggest the RT-PCR COVID-19 or the new Abbott POC test.

Please find out if your health insurance covers serology testing.

This test does not:
- Test for immunity (show whether your body can fight off COVID-19). Current IgG serology tests can't show if you have immunity to COVID-19
- Determine if you're safe from getting COVID-19 again
- Show that you’re currently sick with COVID-19
- Prove that someone can't spread COVID-19 to others
- Replace common infection-control practices
You still need to practice social distancing, cover your cough and wash your hands often.

You also need to stay away from people who have higher chances of becoming very sick or dying if they are exposed to COVID-19. These include people who:
- Are over age 65
- Have cancer
- Have no immune system or have a weak immune system

- Show that you were exposed to or infected by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) more than two weeks ago
- Help us track COVID-19 in our community
- Help public health leaders find ways to keep everyone safe
